Acupuncture and Women’s Health

Women of all ages can benefit from acupuncture treatment. “Acupuncture therapy has been quite successful in treating female disorders,” says Dr. Richard Browne, a Miami-based acupuncture physician. “Regulation of the female monthly menstruation, menopausal symptoms and infertility can all be treated with acupuncture.”
As a woman’s body goes through cycles from the onset of puberty to menopause, acupuncture can enhance balance and overall vitality. “Many women experience either irregular menses or painful menses,” Browne says. “Although many women think this condition is normal, it is not and it can be regulated with acupuncture to be smooth and pain free.”
“At the present time, patients taking IVF treatments to induce pregnancy are also taking acupuncture to improve the success rate of these costly treatments,” Browne says. “Many women have depended on acupuncture by itself to induce pregnancy.”
Acupuncture can reduce menopausal symptoms as well. “Within the male dominated medical community, menopause is not dealt with in an intelligent manner,” says Browne. “In traditional Chinese medicine we have both acupuncture and herbal medicine to help reduce and eliminate the symptoms of change of life.”
Traditional Chinese medicine can enhance women’s health by assessing areas of blockage. “The primary task of the acupuncture physician is to determine the areas of blockage and the areas of deficiencies. Upon knowing this we can treat to remove the blockage and thus cure the condition,” says Browne. “We can add the correct herbal formula to improve the function of the organs so as to invigorate the function of the whole body.”
