What is Homeopathy ?
Homeopathy is a system of medicine that
is based on the Law of Similars. Hahnemann the founder of
homeopathy described this principle by using a Latin phrase:
Similia Similibus Curentur, which translates: "Let likes
cure likes." It is a principle that has been known for
centuries by the Greeks and the Chinese. Samuel Hahnemann
developed this principle into a system of medicine and it
has been successfully practiced for the last 200 years.
An important
distinction exists between orthodox medicine and homeopathy.
In orthodox medicine, the aim is to control the illness through
the use of medical substances, such as drugs and surgery.
If the medication is withdrawn, the person returns to illness.
There is no cure. In fact legally medical doctor are forbidden
to ever use the word cure. A person who takes a pill for high
blood pressure or cholesterol every day is not undergoing
a cure but is only attempting to control the symptoms. Homeopathy
is different its aim is to cure the individual, to effect
the complete restoration of health
In the orthodox medical
thought, health is seen simply as the absence of disease.
You assume that you are healthy if there is nothing visibly
wrong with you. In homeopathy health is much more than that
a healthy person is a person who is free on all four levels
of existence. In Homeopathy as in Kabbalah we recognize the
four different worlds that we each live in simultaneously.
They are the physical, emotional, mental and spiritual worlds.
It can be seen that
a person with a lower back pain is not free on the physical
plane. On the physical level he/she has a visible problem.
On a more subtle level, an individual who is anxious, depressed
or excessively irritable is not free on the emotional level.
They may be fine physically but emotionally they are not free.
Likewise, a person
who cannot remember the events of the day, who has short-term
memory loss is not free on the mental level. This causes much
inner pain and frustration. Similarly a person who is unable
to distinguish right from wrong may be in turmoil on the spiritual
plane. You may not be able to see their pain but as you reflect
you can see how much torture their beings are immersed in.
Homeopath recognizes such limitations and attempts, through
the use of the properly selected remedies, to restore the
person to perfect health and freedom. |
